Wendy S. Purvey, a 28-year industry veteran, is responsible for creating and implementing all marketing, interactive digital, advertising and public relations initiatives for the Sotheby's International Realty® network, developing systems that are true to the brand's vision, unique positioning and savvy and refined personality.
Purvey has earned a reputation for delivering marketing strategies that have helped drive new business growth. Throughout her career she has been involved in multiple mergers and acquisitions and is experienced at bringing together multiple firms into new and existing brand identities. She joined the Sotheby’s International Realty brand in November 2004 as senior vice president, marketing, and was promoted to chief marketing officer in April 2010.
In 2013 she spearheaded the brand’s unique collaboration with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite that allowed for the complete Sotheby’s International Realty marketing program to be available for network members to present to consumers on listing presentations via a unique and interactive digital format presentation. The presentation, which is available to the network as an iPad app, ties the entire program together, speaking to the consumer in a new and interactive way that has traditionally been utilized by the world’s publishing powerhouses to promote their products.
The brand’s 2014 marketing plan was designed to deliver 800 million overall impressions, with nearly half of that dedicated to global markets, ensuring the Sotheby’s International Realty brand is positioned where consumers are searching for real estate. The plan utilizes content rich programs that incorporate both editorial and video, features hand-selected media partners and was built around state-of-the-art technology.
She also led the redesign of the brand’s website, sothebysrealty.com, which re-launched in 2011 with the goal of redefining how consumers search for real estate. The website now serves as an integrated marketing solution for the network and provides a consistent, high-quality experience for consumers, allowing them to search for a home in a variety of ways including by lifestyle. She also spearheaded the creation of the official Sotheby’s International Realty YouTube channel, which was designed to house unique property and destination videos from the network’s worldwide offices.
In her current role, she created and acts as the publisher for RESIDE magazine, a luxury lifestyle and real estate magazine published by the Sotheby’s International Realty network. The magazine was honored with a 2009 Hermes Platinum Award for creative excellence and outstanding design and editorial in the overall magazine category.
Purvey led the development of exclusive marketing partnerships with several key news outlets The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the BBC and the Daily Telegraph, to provide the brand’s network members a direct audience with some of the world’s most qualified buyers and sellers.
From 1999 to 2004, Purvey served as vice president of sales and marketing for Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, Sarasota, Fla., the state's largest residential real estate brokerage company. In this role, she was responsible for the company’s strategic marketing efforts and the delivery of marketing materials, tools and resources for 8,000 sales associates from 164 offices throughout the state. She also oversaw all marketing, advertising, public relations, Internet and intranet communications.
Purvey served as vice president, sales and marketing, for Arvida Realty Services, formerly Prudential Florida Realty, Clearwater, Fla., from 1994 to 1999, where she created, managed and maintained all company-wide marketing and advertising campaigns for 90 offices.
