Born in Europe, raised on the East Coast, Ortrun Niesar has resided in the Bay Area since 1969. A graduate of Wilson College, PA., she attended graduate school at the University of California at Berkeley and San Diego. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the University of California Alumni Association, spent several years working at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco before launching into the coffee, gourmet cookware, catering and restaurant industry as co-founder and principal of Caravansary Inc., a pioneer coffee and gourmet food concern prominent in the Bay Area during the 1970s and '80s.

After a short hiatus devoted to continued studies in the visual arts, Ortrun decided to bring her extensive experience in marketing, public relations and project management to the world of real estate. Over the past fifteen years, she has focused on providing discreet personal real estate service to extraordinary clients primarily in the East Bay and the Napa Valley where she specializes in small country estates. She takes her reputation as an experienced, trustworthy, top producing, knowledgeable Realtor very seriously. She often teams up with contractors and attorneys on real estate matters, enjoys dealing with complex issues.

Ortrun and her husband, San Francisco attorney Gerry Niesar, continue to reside in the Rockridge District of Oakland where they have raised their three children. Gerry and Ortrun both serve on several nonprofit boards in the Bay Area. In addition, Ortrun writes a monthly culture and life style column for the Rockridge News and reviews the state of local real estate periodically.

Ortrun is fluent in German and conversant in French. In her spare time she enjoys painting, museum visits, opera, travel and working on the family farm and vineyard in the Napa Valley. She hopes that a good bottle of wine will make up for the shortcoming of never have learned to play golf.
