The basic philosophy and concepts behind The Palace, Xinyi constitute a continuation of those in Hung Sheng’s original The Palace project on Renai Road. The architectural design for The Palace, Xinyi, which was a collaborative effort between world-renowned architect C.Y. Lee and Japan’s Orimoto Structural Engineers, is in its classical European style. It employs a better-than-hospital-grade seismic base isolation system which is able to cope with earthquakes five times more powerful than conventional isolation systems can handle. This helps ensure the safety not only of the building’s residents but also of its works of art, furniture and furnishings. The entire building is clad in elegant, off-white stone; with its high windows, oval balconies and square crown, The Palace, Xinyi – which is located down a tranquil, shady side-street – exudes a quiet confidence, a sense of wealth without arrogance and an unspoken aura of leadership.
