Description

The two houses in Palea Penteli lie at the ends of an elongated site, creating a central open space, an interior courtyard, which is the main open space of the complex. The two L-shaped elements made of reinforced concrete (floor shear-wall, floor roof slab) are directed towards each other, embracing and organizing the two houses. A shear-wall vertical to the road crosses the complex, consolidating the house through open-traffic areas and organizing the functions of the ground floor (preparation of food, living room, circulation). The traversable living areas at the courtyard level give the impression of a covered outdoor space that extends from the edge of the road to the backside of the site. The lightweight metal and wooden structures of the superstructure organize the personal and introverted spaces of the houses, located on the first floor and the attic.
