Jonathan Smith, an agent in the Southampton office, brings more than a decade of real estate experience and dedication to every customer. He has been involved in the industry as a designer, small-scale developer and investor, giving him a unique and comprehensive perspective on the market.
The native New Yorker has been summering on the East End for thirty-six years, making him intimately familiar with the Southampton area. Jonathan grew up on Central Park West and attended the Collegiate School and the Lawrenceville School. He studied at the American University of Paris and Trinity College Dublin before graduating from Vassar College.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s International Realty, Jonathan was a political consultant and fundraising professional for non-profit organizations. After working with several successful congressional, senatorial and presidential campaigns, Jonathan ran for New York State Assembly in 2008.
Following his campaign, Jonathan was asked to lead the unrestricted fundraising department at Vassar College as the Director of the Annual Fund. During his tenure there, he led a team of eight responsible for raising $10 million for the college each year.
He has been a board member of several not-for-profit organizations, including the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee.
Jonathan lives in Sag Harbor with his wife, Catherine, their daughter, and their Australian Shepherd “Godfrey,” and enjoys sailing, renovating historic houses and restoring classic sports cars.
