Mr. Castagnola was born in Annapolis, Maryland and was raised in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He earned a B.S. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. During his academic career, he also undertook a number of courses in photography and the fine arts, interests that he still shares today. In fact, it was his interest in art history that brought him to the Washington, D.C. affiliate of Sotheby's. He is a licensed Associate Broker in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. He has experienced the complete transformation of the city since 1995 and currently resides in Logan Circle. While Mr. Castgagnola works with buyers and sellers throughout the region, his current focus is on the Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, and Shaw neighborhoods of northwest Washington. This is primarily due to his admiration for architectural styles that were popular in these neighborhoods including: Second Empire, Italianate, Queen Anne and historical revival styles. He is equally interested in contemporary architecture and has had the pleasure of working with several renowned local developers on new construction projects throughout the region. Prior to his career in real estate, Mr. Castagnola worked in luxury retail at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue as a client representative. During his tenure, he developed one of the largest designer businesses for both organizations. His colleagues and superiors at both Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue continually honored him for sales achievement. Mr. Castagnola represented numerous well-regarded luxury brands during his career, the principals of which sought him out in representing them. Mr. Castagnola is certified by the National Association of Realtors as a Graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI). This designation was earned after 140 hours of additional training in contemporary issues dealing with the real estate industry. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of Your Professional Network at the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors. Mr. Castagnola is also an avid supporter of the Washington Capitals.Prior to his career in real estate, Thomas worked in luxury retail at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Store selling designer clothing. During the years he worked as a sales associate, he gained the valuable training and experience in building relationships and working with clients to help meet their goals and objectives. At Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Store, Thomas developed one of the largest designer businesses for the company. While working at Saks, he was recruited by Dolce & Gabbana and Jil Sander to represent/promote their brands and he consistently exceeded sales plans well beyond corporate expectations.
