San Myint Zaw, "Zaw", was born in the exotic British colonial city of Rangoon, Burma, a country now known as Myanmar. After completing his college degree in International Relations at Yangon University, Zaw was employed by Abercrombie & Kent/ Orient Express to lead unique tours of Burma for an upscale international clientele whose simple request was "show me something wonderful that I have not yet seen." One offering was the Road to Mandalay, (RTM) a "5 star" river cruiser built in Germany for the Rhine, later transferred to Burma by the Orient Express Company. A chance meeting with an American investor in 1997 launched Old Burma Tours. Zaw became Managing Director of the in-country tour operation. Strategically by-passing the traditional travel distribution network, Old Burma reached out through the internet to a global base of clients who defined themselves as "adventurers and explorers" who had been "everywhere and done everything". His clients have included the famous people from hollywood; an internationally known diplomat based in Moscow; royal families from Europe, many other notables from New York, Los Angeles and beyond. Now, in his new affiliation with Sotheby's, Zaw brings his international and Asian experience to buyers exploring the Miami market which has become a remarkable global crossroads. Once again, Zaw is introducing "something we have never seen" to the global community with footprints in Miami.
