David was born and raised on southern Vancouver Island until he "temporarily" left the Island for 22 years (once an Islander, always an Islander). During that time, he lived in various Provinces and States while pursuing an academic career. David earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, and went on to become an Associate Professor of Neurology at a Medical College in the US, where he conducted neurological research. With a wife and two small children, David decided that his family was more important to him and moved back to Victoria and his roots. David is now a second generation Real Estate agent, joining with his father, Sandy Medler, who has been selling Real Estate on Vancouver Island for over 46 years. The combination of Sandy’s extensive experience and knowledge and David’s skills from his previous career provides unparalleled service for their clients. While working with clients in all neighbourhoods, David is also well versed in the challenges faced by academic and medical professionals when relocating. Since returning to the Island, David has been actively involved in the community, including coaching children's fastball, sessional teaching at the University of Victoria, and serving as the Board President of HeadWay: Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson’s Centre from 2011 until 2014.
