The complete renovation of a 1750's farmhouse sited on almost 3 acres above the canal in Franklin Township's historic Griggstown was clearly a labor of love. In collaboration with local restoration specialists, original fixtures were revived and a smart new floorplan was born. The formal library-style entry with striking geometric floor was inspired by Jefferson's Monticello. An informal entry leads past a full bath into the cherry kitchen with a commercial range and a breakfast area brightened by French doors. An original cooking fireplace and antique wood floors anchor an airy family room addition. Rough wood beams culled from the basement were repurposed overhead and more French doors give way to a stone patio and rolling lawn abutting preserved land. Exemplary hand-carved mantles are the centerpieces of both large formal rooms. The laundry is located upstairs, along with lots of cedar-lined closet space. The master suite has a bathroom en suite and 2 bedrooms share a third full bath with spa tub.
