Until a few years ago, only the locals would know about the existence of the town of Laglio, on Lake Como. Since the American actor George Clooney bought Villa Oleandra, this little town has been broadly appearing on the international press. Beautiful George became the guru of Laglio since then. These landscapes are still as beautiful as they used to be a hundred years ago, when Villa Castiglione was built right outside of the town. The eccentric and dreamy architecture, in vogue for those years, has been kept during the restoration work in 2005. Three properties, each featuring a 70 sq.mt. apartment in the basement, were obtained. The attic in the watchtower with double entrance hall, direct and exclusive with lift, is now for sale. Each of the five windows opening on the living room with dining area is a different picture of the lake. A kitchen island and a bathroom complete the daytime portion of the house. Hardwood floors and false ceilings decorated with plaster works adorn the 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, of which one has a Jacuzzi. The private garden is a flat green field, part of a large common park ,where it’s possible to build a pool.
After George Clooney bought 30-room villa on the shores of Lake Como in 2002, the region experienced a phenomenon that became known as the “Clooney Effect.” Real estate prices rose with an influx of international buyers. The reality is that this exquisite spot in the foothills of the Alps has been attracting the wealthy since Roman times. Read more about luxury homes in Lake Como
