Hacienda San Antonio Chuntuac is a rare find for the buyer of an old, gentile, elegant and sophisticated hacienda located in Merida, in Mexico’s Yucatan.
Surrounded by beautiful, exotic gardens, the hacienda has been completely restored by its current owner preserving the colonial design of the original structure. At the same time, the architect has added some contemporary spaces which combine beautifully with the original colonial architecture. This blend of old and new create a sophisticated balance of warmth and beauty. Moreover a reverence for the past is combined with the luxury and comfort of modern conveniences. One might say that Hacienda San Antonio Chuntuac has been transformed into a structural paradise in the midst of nature.
The distinguished icons that welcome one to the subtle beauty of this residence are the Moorish style arches and the high wooden columns which surround the main entrance to the hacienda. The woodwork has all been restored, saving the original design. The main house of the hacienda is called Casa Grande. It is a one story building with stunning corridors that connect all the rooms. Intricate ironwork borders the large windows on the exterior. On the inside, the hand crafted wooden shutters are made in the same style as the original colonial, carved wooden doors. These handsome windows also provide the house with a lot of light and a constant flow of fresh air. Spectacular garden views from every room of the house promote a positive, harmonious energy. Whereas, the interior décor transport a visitor to another era, where peace and tranquility combine with fine-carved antique furniture and art which make an enduring impression on a visitor.
