"Bluff House at Osprey is caught in two worlds. Years as a Bed and Breakfast but so much more. Twenty two acres with deep water frontage on Frenchman Bay, western sunset views and a large home plus detached guest house. Sitting high on a bluff it looks to Mt. Desert Island, Sorrento and beyond. Plenty of room for additional homes on the shore. The night sky on clear nights is breathtaking and feels like you can touch the stars. You can see the lights of Mt. Desert Island and the fog roll in from the ocean. The nine bedroom main house has a large open living area with a fireplace, first floor bedroom suite and a huge kitchen. Large enough to entertain big crowds but still with a warm feeling. Upstairs has many bedrooms and baths decorated in a Downeast fashion of seaside living. The guest house is fully functional and can be used for many things beside guests. The community is near the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. A research and learning center focused on the environment is located in the old navy base. Many well maintained and protected nature trails are in the area. The bold ocean crashes to the rocks in the park and crowds form to enjoy the show. Winter Harbor is the nearest coastal town that has shopping. There is a robust summer community and large lobster boat fleet in the town. Many summer events in both art and music are held in Winter Harbor. Schoodic Art Festival is a big annual event and Winter Harbor hosts lobster boat races. The major commercial center is about 30 minutes away in Ellsworth. Airport, hospitals, restaurants, theaters and all the amenities are available there. A great location, private and convenient.
