What I love about the house is the opportunity to participate in living architectural history and to be a steward. I feel like I don't so much "own" the house as I am responsible for a piece of history, one whose use has changed over time. Yes, the house has been modernized, but the character of an old house, reflected in the pine floors, remains. I like the connection to the barn, a place where animals sheltered when they were not working the farmland that surrounded the house. I appreciate the generations that have walked across the enormous front stoop--a flat rock hauled by oxen from a field. And so I have been a steward of this house and now look to pass on the responsibility and the joy that comes with ownership to someone else, someone who will love the possibilities of the house for her or his family. Up-dated kitchen and baths and yet the charm of yesteryear remains! Picturesque land with gardens, Southern exposure and separate entrance for potential in home business!
