Izamal, Other Areas In Mexico 97540 Mexico

Hacienda Sacnicte, meaning White Flower in the local Mayan dialect, is a truly amazing property located in Izamal in Yucatan, Mexico. The hacienda has 10 bedrooms, each with its own private ensuite bathroom, spread over three buildings. The three buildings are constructed around a beautifully peaceful swimming pool that is lined with lush trees and vegetation. There is also an old chapel that has been refashioned into a restaurant for the Hacienda, a smaller dining room, a large bar/reception area, a spacious lounge room, and a large kitchen. The current owners have turned the Hacienda into a peaceful getaway by creating a property that mixes contemporary styling with its colonial heritage. Every room of the Hacienda has been fashioned in its own unique style, with every attention paid to the details. In this property, every piece of furniture, every door, even every window frame, has been carefully selected to complement the styling of the Hacienda. The Hacienda is currently being run as a boutique hotel and boasts a large number of regular customers. It also has a full complement of extremely motivated staff. This creates the opportunity for the buyer of this property to continue with the hotel theme and generate a comfortable return on investment. Alternatively, the buyer could keep this gem of a Hacienda all to himself or herself and create their own personal and private paradise. The three main buildings consist of approximately 1,100 m2 of construction (11,840 square feet). On top of this there is an old machine room that has yet to be restored which consists of approximately 800 m2 of construction (8,611 square feet). This machine room could easily be converted into another 8-10 rooms for the hotel, turned into another large private residence, or whatever else the imagination can create. The Hacienda is located just 4 kilometres (2 miles) outside of Izamal. Izamal is an absolutely beautiful town just 65 kilometres (40 miles) from Merida and 75 kilometres (47 miles) from Chichen Itza. Izamal is known in Mexico as the Yellow City, as nearly all the buildings in the centre of the town are painted yellow. In 2002 Izamal was inducted into the Programa Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Villages Program). This is a program run by the Federal Government of Mexico to celebrate some of their most historical, beautiful, and cultural cities. There are only 40 villages in the whole of Mexico that share this designation. Izamal is also known locally as La Ciudad de las tres culturas (The City of three cultures). It is called this as a reference to its rich cultural heritage and the fact that it made important contributions to the pre-Hispanic Mayan society, to the Colonial society, and that it continues to make cultural contributions to today’s contemporary Mexican society. HISTORY: The history of this Hacienda can be traced back to era around the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. The legal documentation shows that in 1861 there were 25 people living there and working the land. By 1897 this number had grown and there were 183 habitants of Hacienda Sacnicte. The primary produce of the Hacienda was Sisal, a product that is used in the making of twine and rope. By the middle of the 20th century Hacienda Sacnicte had workers from all over Mexico working their land. However, misfortune befell the owners and the property was vacated and left to the elements. The current owners found the property in 2007 in a state of ruin. Under their careful supervision the property has been restored to a level that far exceeds its all its former glory.
