I am John Mathews, a resident of Ladue. I am so happy be back in St. Louis. Even though I have been back for ten years now it still feels like it was just yesterday that I moved to Old Town - Clayton. I had spent about eleven years in such places as Pittsburgh, Florida, Birmingham, and Detroit.

When I was away I discovered my own passion for the real estate business. My mother's family has a long and treasured tradition in the St. Louis area for real estate development and architecture. Members of the McMahon family were instrumental in the design and development of The University Club Tower, The Sevens Building, the 230 Building (Clayton's first multi story office building), the former Clayton Inn, St. John's Hospital, and St. Anthony's Hospital.

Originally licensed in Florida, I worked for some of our nation's leading resort and shopping center developers, including Sandestin Resorts (Sime Darby, a Malaysian multi-national corporation) and AIG Baker - Shopping Center Properties. Today I maintain brokers' licenses in Missouri and Florida. Upon returning to St. Louis and prior to joining Dielmann Sotheby's International Realty, I focused my attention on developing mixed use properties in St. Louis' premier Entertainment district, the Delmar Loop (my building located at 5850 Delmar Boulevard won an award from Landmarks Association for quality historic preservation).

I consider it a privilege to carry on my family's tradition in the Real Estate business. Even my father's family is in the real estate business; they have been purchasing mineral rights in various parts of southeast Missouri for more than one hundred years.

It is my privilege to serve on the board for Harambee, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on mentoring at risk youth by teaching them the skill of tuck-pointing. I am an active board member of the Missouri Association for Historic Preservation, my affiliation as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity has always been a source of inspiration for me as a Realtor, and I have enjoyed being involved with The First Tee a group that teaches underprivileged kids the game of golf.

I believe in a healthy balance between work and family. My greatest joy has been spending time with family at a vacation home on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin islands. Additionally, I enjoy playing golf and working on any kind of home improvement project - both inside and outside.

I pride myself on representing my clients in the most significant investments of their lives, where memories are made, families are built, and legacies are forged.
