À propos de Extremely rare property at the water's edge with p

This property is situated at the water’s edge, in the commune of Prangins, near Nyon. Access is very easy and extremely discreet. The south-facing property enjoys maximum natural light throughout the day. Totally private with no neighbours in sight. Geneva and the airport are just a half hour drive away. All facilities can be found within a radius of 5 kilometres (city of Nyon, shopping centres, schools, motorway access). The house was constructed in 1896, for Jean-Philippe Worth, son of Charles Frederic Worth, couturiers of the Second Empire. It was used as a summer residence as the owner had a similar property near Paris on the banks of the Seine. Recent modifications and renovations have retained many historic details whilst adapting the house to modern standards of comfort. With its impressive volume (more than 7,000 m3), this building is constructed half over the water, resting on semi-circular arches supported by Meillerie stone pillars solidly anchored in Lake Geneva. The brick walls are extensively covered with dark wood, giving the château a mysterious air. The wooded parkland, containing various species, some of them rare, is bordered by a river feeding a stream that in turn feeds a pond. The pathways and numerous bridges that span this stream give an overall impression of bucolic charm. One of them leads to a large semi-buried aquarium that could be restored. The tennis court is just waiting to be refurbished to welcome new players. Over the years this property has retained all its charm and the spirit of the Belle Epoque, although the owners have made various transformations to satisfy contemporary needs for comfort and convenience. The rooms are configured around an imposing sculpted wooden staircase with velvet wall coverings, in addition to stone service stairs and a recently reinstalled hydraulic lift. The floors comprise: • The lower ground floor gives direct access to the lovely private port covering some 5,000 m2, which can accommodate a large number of boats. Its two robust breakwaters, also built of Meillerie stone, and the exterior rocks, ensure that this exceptional port remains totally calm in all weathers. From the lower ground floor, the terraces are also accessible on the same level. The east wing includes a gym and a sauna. • The upper ground floor, covering around 400 m2, has retained the classic style of the period. A large balcony runs along two sides of this floor, providing spectacular views over Lake Geneva and the Geneva fountain (jet d'eau) in the distance. The main rooms are generous (approx. 8 m x 8 m) with a ceiling height of 4.80 m. The living room is in the centre, while a large wood panelled library, the former office of the couturier, occupies the right wing. The very large kitchen makes it possible to organise large functions. • The first floor, with a ceiling height of 4.20 m, decorated entirely by a French interior designer, is without doubt the key attraction of this mansion. It extends over some 330 m2 and includes two large reception rooms and three bedrooms. Note the very beautiful large kitchen with modern equipment, lovely details on the doors (wrought iron and engraved glass) and bathrooms, one of which has remarkable mosaics. Every contemporary luxury and comfort is provided, whilst preserving the atmosphere of the Belle Epoque. Ancient parquet floors, in very good condition, give this floor elegance and style. The sand and taupe colour scheme diffuses harmony and calm. A balcony with large and spacious windows provides an incredible clear view over the pond. • The second attic floor is a duplex covering around 320 m2, decorated in a modern style, like a large apartment for everyday living with all facilities. It comprises a large living room, kitchen, five bedrooms, three bathrooms and four attic rooms.
