Philip is also a dedicated activist with extensive experience in both international and domestic human rights law. He spent the early part of his legal career working as a litigator for an international NGO and later for a local legal aid organization. Philip now spends much of his free time working for his nonprofit organization, which provides no and low income individuals with a variety of legal services.

Philip studied at the College of William and Mary, Cambridge University, Temple University in Japan and Georgetown Law School.
