Colleen Hutchinson is a 30 year resident of the Sarasota County area, moving to Venice with her husband, Jeff, in 1981. She is quick to point out that Venice is not only a great place to retire, but an outstanding place to raise three children, with one graduating from Fitchburg State in Massachusetts, another from Lynn University in Boca Raton, and her youngest, a student at Florida State University.

Throughout the years Colleen was very involved with education on a local and state level, serving on one of Governor Lawton Chiles Parent Advisory Boards. Her community involvement has been comprehensive, varied and well respected.

One would think being a transplant from the Chicago area that the Florida winters would be the reason for their decision to move to Sarasota County. On the contrary, the northern winters are still a definite attraction, with many Christmases spent enjoying winter sports in West Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.

"Its the way of life year around that attracted our family to Venice and Sarasota. The sense of community and feeling you are part of a unique experience. The weather was an added plus! Where else can you enjoy boating all four seasons?"

Colleens background in new home construction and real estate sales stems from working alongside her husband, a well known custom builder in the Sarasota County area for 30 years, giving her an excellent perspective on the quality of homes as well as a keen sense of diverse tastes and needs of both sellers and buyers.
