John McHugh, a Global Real Estate Advisor and Associate Broker with Sotheby's International Realty, began his real estate career in 2001. An expert in the luxury market, he has represented numerous high-end properties throughout the Hamptons, including notable oceanfront and land listings. John was the listing/selling agent for a $31 million estate on Meadow Lane, which sold in 2006. In 2007, he listed and sold another prestigious property on Meadow Lane for $35 million, setting a record in Southampton Village for a single and separate lot. In December 2008 he sold 120 Meadow Lane in Southampton for $27 million. Most recently and noteworthy, he again sold the same property in August 2009 at $25.9 million, the highest priced sale in the Hamptons in 2009.
John specializes in high-end waterfront properties. John's knowledge of local zoning, wetlands and permit processes, and the local market are a resource for investing or buying a family home. The majority of John's business derives from referrals and satisfied repeat customers, which evidences his enthusiasm, discretion and dedication to client-centered service. Prior to establishing his career in real estate, John worked on Wall Street for seven years. A New York City native, he grew up on Manhattan's Upper East Side, where he attended the Buckley School. He relocated to the Hamptons nine years ago. He was immediately drawn to the area for its beautiful beaches and relaxed lifestyle, which seems a world apart from New York City. An avid golfer with family history in the game, John possesses an insider's knowledge of the Hamptons' world-class golf facilities.
John studied Art History and Sociology at Roanoke College in Virginia and formerly resided in both New York City and Aspen, Colorado.
