THE HENRY D. HEDGES HOUSE Less then 100 miles from Manhattan, East Hampton, widely regarded as the most beautiful beach village, is an Oceanside resort with miles of sandy white beaches, fine restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, equestrian facilities, golf, and boating. The Queen Anne style house is ideally set in the prime location of one of the most bucolic tree lined streets south of the highway, in the village historic district. It was built for the family of Henry D. Hedges, who was a prosperous merchant in the village. The 7,000 square foot shingled three story house, originally built in 1903 by A.O Jones, prominent builder of the time boasts 8 bedrooms and 8 ½ baths. While preserving authenticity in period detail and woodwork, its 1900 integrity totally restored. The 900 square foot wraparound porch welcomes you into the large foyer with a grand staircase and a hand carved fireplace, encased in custom paneling, replicates the original. House also has an elevator.
