Federico was born in Mexico City and raised in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was fortunate to come to the Vail Valley every year with his family where he developed a passion for skiing and the Rocky Mountains, which complimented his love of surfing from his upbringing in Mexico. Federico's family roots go back to the resort's opening year in 1962, when his grandfather, Victor de la Lama, discovered and settled in the Vail Valley. He is considered one of the original founders of Vail, and has enjoyed bringing family and many friends to share his appreciation for the mountain lifestyle. Federico attended the Universidad Ibero Americana in Mexico City where he studied engineering. He first entered real estate in San Jose del Cabo, selling resort properties for 5 years at the new resort, Puerto Los Cabos. In 2007 Federico married U. S. Alpine Ski Team veteran, Sarah Schleper. They have a 4 year old son, Lasse, who is learning to love the Vail Valley mountain and skiing lifestyle. Federico and Lasse have spent much time in Europe at their Innsbruck, Austria residence supporting Sarah as she continues her successful World Cup ski racing career. Today they make their home in the Vail Valley, where Federico balances his role as a dedicated husband and father, his career as a busy Sotheby's International Realty broker, and the many year round outdoor activities unique to the Rockies. He maintains very close ties to his Cabo San Lucas and Mexico City family and friends. His intimate knowledge and many years of experience in the valley are a big advantage to his clients as he helps them discover and enjoy the Vail Valley, whether it's a vacation home or primary residence. Together with his international perspective, his working knowledge of the Sotheby's International Realty resources and network of brokers, and his expertise in helping clients successfully navigate the process of buying and selling real estate, Federico is uniquely qualified to advise clients on important real estate decisions and to market properties with a broad reach.
