Many Native Texans have to be dragged by their silver-spurred boots, kicking and screaming from the Lone Star State. Instead of a life riding the range on the ranch where I was born, my destiny was to travel the world for 25 years before discovering Vero Beach.I am familiar with the customs, culture and lifestyles of countries as diverse as India and England. I am comfortable meeting and dealing with any one of our wonderful human families. Before commencing my travels as the owner of an arts and antiques business, I owned a public relations and advertising agency in Houston. My major clients included homebuilders, developers and contractors. I have been with Treasure Coast Sotheby's International Realty for the past six years, listing and selling both commercial and residential real estate. Other than its great natural beauty, agreeable year-round climate and genuinely nice people, I was drawn to Vero Beach by its cultural attractions. I served for two years as president of the fund raising and governing body for our locally based Atlantic Classical Orchestra.I am also active in our world-class Center for the Arts, and am a member of the Indian River Cultural Counsel. I enthusiastically support and enjoy many professional musical and serious dramatic productions at the Riverside Theatre. Our city of some 26,000 supports a host of quality art galleries, of which the Pate Collection, owned by my wife, Angela, is but one. We enjoy friendships with people from around the world, who, like us, are seeking a friendly city with quality of life.
