The old village of Colares is known since beginning of our nationality, with a charter granted by King Afonso III in 1255 and the new charter, by King D. Manuel I, in1516. Following an administrative reform in 1855, the County would eventually be integrated into the village of Sintra as one of its parishes. The Parish of Colares is a verdant and extensive forest patch that is totally, located in the area of the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais.
