Naples, Florida, USA
Palm trees and pools. Boats and marinas. Pastel-colored homes with ceramic shingles and perfectly manicured lawns. Bright sun. White sand beaches, coves and waterways. Hotels, shops, restaurants, plazas. If Naples didn’t already exist you might think it was created on the Hollywood set of a movie title “South Florida.” The only thing missing is flamingoes.
Located on the calm water’s of Florida’s southwest coast, Naples is one of the state’s most highly valued second- (and third-, and fourth-) home communities. Naples real estate and the seasonal industries that serve it drive the local economy, and residents enjoy a thriving art, musical and cultural scene that revolves around galleries and the Artis-Naples performance art center, The Baker Museum and the Sugden Theater.
The Naples market ranges from Bonita Springs bordering Lee County to the north, where some of the region’s most favored beaches span a series of keys and barrier islands, to Port Royal south of downtown, where stunning single-family residences overlook inlets and broad avenues of water. In-town, many of the most prestigious estates reside directly on the Gulf beaches or along Naples Bay, and top-of-the-market high-rise condominium units line the shores north of downtown.
To the south of Naples is one of the state’s most distinctive and original addresses, Marco Island. Featuring the last proper beaches before the coastline breaks into 100 miles of marsh and estuaries that compose the state’s southern tip, this once sparsely populated barrier island was converted in the early 1970’s into a glamorous city-on-water where a labyrinthine network of canals connect interior homesites to outer bays and the Gulf of Mexico.
Marco Island is both a destination second-home retreat and a self-contained community with its own school system, shopping and nightlife, condominiums, hotels and resorts and two golf courses. As the southernmost premium community in this part of the state it’s an emphatic exclamation point to lifestyle on Florida’s Sun Coast.
