MOUNT HOPE PLANTATION. This historical home built in 1797 was built by John Daniel Vaughn, an American Revolutionary war lieutenant who fought alongside George Washington at Valley Forge. It's current owners moved the home about a half of a mile to its new location on the banks of the Amelia River approximately 7 years ago. This magnificent and meticulously revitalized home has heart cypress flooring that was re-milled to its original luster, a beautiful wooden staircase with cypress balusters and an original wooden facade fireplace carved during the civil war. Some of the thoughtful touches of modernization include granite counter-tops and Stainless Steel appliances in the kitchen and remodeled baths. The panorama of marsh and Intracoastal Waterway views will truly take your breath away.
