The old village of Colares is known since beginning of our nationality, with a charter granted by King Afonso III in 1255 and the new charter, by King D. Manuel I, in1516. Following an administrative reform in 1855, the County would eventually be integrated into the village of Sintra as one of its parishes. The Parish of Colares is a verdant and extensive forest patch that is totally, located in the area of the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais. The coastal strip, succession of low cliffs, sandy dunes and high limestone cliffs, is dominated by Cabo da Roca, the most western point of Europe, called the Promontorium Lunae by the Romans. The agricultural area, of ancient humanization, is slashed by dry stone walls or hedges of cane or reed, defense against the strong sea winds. Around the Natural Park there are several milestones: Some, monumental and well-known, if Palácio da Pena, or Montserrate, other, simpler and sometimes ignored, as the chapel of St. Mamede Janas. s located at the heart of the parish, it comprises two buildings - one being the main dwelling and another devoted to staff. The family home with six bedrooms all en suite, spacious living room with dining area, internal and external kitchen, facing the lush green slopes of the mountains, living for an outside area where we find a swimming pool and recreational area.
