Tim began a successful career in the real estate business in upstate New York in the 1980s, a period of time when Albany was undergoing many changes and the downtown area was designated historic. Tim worked very closely with his clients, providing guidance on the unique characteristics of the area, which featured mostly 1880s brownstones, many abandoned and many gutted with just the shell remaining. This created extensive client challenges in finding financing and renovation grants to maintain the required historical accuracy of the area. His persistence, hard work and ability to help his clients see outside of the box won him success. Being there throughout the entire listing and sales process built many of his continuing professional and personal relationships.
At the end of the 1980s, Tim moved to San Francisco, CA, taking a sales job with a manufacturing firm that provided display items for the retail industry. He developed a client base of national accounts that included large retail chains such as JC Penney, Federated, Macy's West, Saks and many more. He was the lead collaborator in the creation of a custom sales division that worked directly with movie studios in Los Angeles. Warner Brothers, Disney Studios and Universal Studios became regular clients for custom designs, including related items for their theme parks. Tim's success was highlighted when the Disney Company chose him and his company as the supplier for their multi-national retail store rollout, supplying the display items for their retail division.
Tim's personal life is also a strong facet. He is a classically trained tenor, historical costume researcher and designer, and award-winning fiber artist. He attended college for accounting, business management, industrial fashion manufacturing and applied fine arts. He has completed both an MBA and MFA.
