Terri has lived and worked in Dorset since 1974. She and her husband Jay owned and operated, Peltier's Market, a well-known country store in Dorset Village for over 27 years. In addition to the Market, they owned and operated 5 other businesses in Southern Vermont.As well as being a successful small business owner, she volunteered as the first Chair for the Vermont Race for the Cure, and served as its first Affiliate President and continues serving breast cancer initiatives. The VT-NH Komen Affiliated has donated more than 4 million dollars to breast cancer programs in VT and in NH as well as supporting national breast cancer research programs. In recognition of this work, Senator Leahy has honored her by presenting her with a flag that was flown over the Capitol in her name.She has also served as the Special Events Coordinator for Clear Path International, an organization that assists landmine and unexploded ordnance victims, their families and communities in Viet Nam, Cambodia, at the Thai-Burma border and in Afghanistan.As if all that were not enough, she also found the time to volunteer both as a tutor and as a board member to Literacy Volunteers in Manchester, VT. She is a past Vice President of the Dorset Theatre Festival and currently serves on the Membership Committee of the Dorset Field Club as well as the 2014 President of the South Central Vermont Board of Realtors.It should come as no surprise, then, that she is a past recipient of the Athena Award as an outstanding female leader in the Manchester area.
