This Gilded Age Masterpiece, built in 1885, is the dual creation of architect, James E. Ware and sculptor and painter, Jacob Adolphous Holzer. The historic landmark Cooperative is perfectly situated diagonally across from Carnegie Hall and steps away from Central Park. This residence is an historical treasure within a Landmark building. From the Grand 12 foot mahogany doors one enters an oversized mahogany wainscoted Gallery. To the right is a double sized Living Room of dramatic proportions. The wood work throughout is remarkable with egg and dart and acanthus hand tooled carvings covering multiple leaded frosted glass pocket doors. The ceiling heights are a resounding 14 feet. Throughout the apartment are original Parquet des Versailles floors and 5 fireplaces each with elaborate firebacks and faced with colorful tiles and repousse brass. The layout of the apartment flows graciously for entertaining and provides a warmth and intimacy for everyday living. Must be seen!
