In 1936, the chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad, W. Averell Harriman, purchased 4,300 acres in central Idaho. The idea was to build a ski resort in the Rocky Mountains as a way to encourage westward train travel. It worked. It was named Sun Valley and within the year, “America’s first destination ski resort” opened.Más información sobre propiedades residenciales de lujo de Sun Valley
Sun Valley is the name of the world-famous ski resort, as well as the small, European-styled village east of Ketchum. The name also encompasses the 30-mile stretch that is the Wood River Valley, an area filled with towns, rivers, mountains, gulches, campgrounds, and cliffs. Sun Valley is home to phenomenal mountain scenery, unlimited year-round recreational offerings, and down-to-earth people. All of this makes Sun Valley, whether it is Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue, or elsewhere, one of the most desirable places in the country to live.
Mid-Valley sits halfway between the towns of Ketchum and Hailey. With a more rural feeling, this area has been rapidly growing in the past few years along the east-west roads that meander up through the mountains. Several beautiful high-end subdivisions are newer to the area. Mid-Valley features access to the Big Wood River as well as gorgeous views of Hyndman Peak up East Fork Canyon and Mahoney Butte up Greenhorn Gulch.
