John specializes in resort properties and large land parcels. He was the leading broker in Teton County in 2001 and again in 2007, when The Wall Street Journal named him one of the top 20 real estate sales professionals in the country as measured by sales volume. Last year, he was the second leading sales producer in Teton County, and was one of nine brokers selected by Realtor Magazine to participate in its Master Series instructional videos.
In addition to being an Associate Broker with Sotheby's International Realty, John is the president and developer of Shooting Star (shootingstarjh.com), the premier residential community in Jackson Hole. From 1995 to 2003, John served as president of Granite Ridge Development and its affiliate, Granite Ridge Townhouses. Prior to that he was president of the Jackson Hole Ski Corporation.
John was on the board of St. John's Hospital from 1988 to 1993 and the Teton County School Board from 1995 to 1999, where he oversaw several major building projects. He has also served on the boards of the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson Hole Ski Corporation, Jackson Hole Central Reservations, the Teton County Housing Authority and the Jackson Hole Center for Global Affairs.
In 1995, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Chamber of Commerce, and also in 1995 under his leadership, the Jackson Hole Ski Corporation won the Golden Eagle Award from Times Mirror Magazines for best environmental practices in the ski industry.
John received a BA from Williams College, a JD from Case Western Reserve Law School and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. He lives in Wilson with his wife, Kitty. They have five children with ages from 14 to 25.
