Quinta da Princesa is a property of 4,320sqm with a fascinating pink palace in the historic center of Sintra. Built in the 19th century, the palace was remodeled in the 19th century by D. Ferdinand II for his mistress, the opera singer Elisa Hensler, Countess of Edla, whom he later married. D. Fernando spared no expenses in transforming Quinta da Princesa into a palace fit for a countess and built a secret lover’s passage connecting the palace with his own royal palace. There are still many architectural features of the palace that still remain, such as carved doors, hand-painted tiles and the original stables with two carriages. The palace is built over five floors, with a ballroom-sized drawing room, several reception rooms, 13 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
