Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty is an independently owned company that was formed in February 2012 by the merger of Morris & Fyrwald (the #1 company in Aspen) and Chaffin Light Real Estate (the #1 company in Snowmass).

Morris & Fyrwald was started in October 2000 by Craig Morris and Ernie Fyrwald. After steady growth in the volume of listings, sales, brokers, & office locations, in February 2009, Morris & Fyrwald became the Aspen affiliate of Sotheby's International Realty, which broadened their reach globally. For 5 consecutive years, Morris & Fyrwald Sotheby's International Realty had the highest sales volume in the Roaring Fork Valley, and sold over $524 million in 2011 prior to the merger.

Chaffin Light Real Estate was formed in 2007 by Jim Light and Jim Chaffin, by merging their prior acquisitions of Snowmass Real Estate Company (the original brokerage firm in Snowmass Village in 1978), Carol Ann Jacobson Realty, and Roaring Fork Real Estate. For over 30 years, they were market leaders in the Roaring Fork Valley, and sold over $279 million in 2011 prior to the merger.
