The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township (MSDWT) located in the northern section of Indianapolis, Indiana and Marion County. It is a dynamic community with broad diversity in cultures, religions, ethnic groups, races, and socioeconomic levels. MSDWT has been an educational leader in Indiana for the last forty years. The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township consists of eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school, and two alternative programs. Washington Township is also home to Butler University, The International School of Indiana, The Orchard School, and Park Tudor. As the district's high school, North Central High School continues to set the standard for academic and extra-curricular high school programs in Indiana, and at the national level. North Central was one of the first schools to be awarded the National Excellence in Education, and it has been selected as one of "America's Best" high schools in a national study conducted by Redbook magazine. MSDWT provides excellent opportunities for students to participate in outstanding performing arts, fine arts, academic teams, publications, athletics, and other student activities. North Central High School has the distinction of being Indiana's number two high school in the number of Indiana athletic championships.
