Parnell, Auckland, New ZealandNew Zealand Sotheby's International Realty
Edition is home to contemporary, thoughtful spaces created with flexibility in mind. The building accommodates just 19 homes: beautiful, spacious environments in which to create and contemplate. Each one, two, or three-bedroomed apartment is unique, but what they have in common are simple, sophisticated spaces and a sense of generosity.
Auckland living is reinvented with Edition, a contemporary building in the heart of Parnell. The boutique complex is set at the end of Churton Street, just two blocks back from the cafés, galleries, restaurants and chic boutiques of Parnell Rise. Walk a little further and you’re in the Parnell Rose Gardens or Auckland Domain (with its quiet walkways, gardens and green spaces); or visiting the waterfront, open-air swimming pools and nearby food markets. Set just five minutes’ drive from the city, the suburb’s also well served by bus and train routes, the latter thanks to the newly opened Parnell train station.
From the exterior Italian glass bricks to the travertine tiles and lush carpets underfoot, there is both a high level of quality and a quiet restraint to the raw materials and their placement in Edition. The building itself is formed from concrete, a material that reinforces both the development’s permanence, and its elegant spareness. Inside, the Bureaux design team has ensured that every fitting and fixture feels and looks luxurious. Italian tapware, bronze detailing and generous expanses of marble add substance and visual weight to the interiors. It’s your chance to live in a building recognised as a finalist in the 2017 World Architecture Festival; a chance to live at the heart of Auckland’s story.
The interiors of Edition are a response and a complement to the bold architecture of the building. Each living space has been designed to optimise sunlight year-round. Floor-to-ceiling windows emphasise the high stud and allow natural light to flood in, while every apartment has a space that connects to the outdoors; some have two or more. Each residence’s living spaces are paved with silver-toned travertine tiles that extend on to the patio areas. In the generous dining areas, there’s more than enough room for a large dinner party with overhanging Flos pendant lights to create intimacy. Elsewhere, recessed ceiling lighting reinforces the feeling of spaciousness. In the living rooms, furniture can be custom-made by Bureaux to fill the space perfectly.
The design of Edition is referenced in the apartment’s kitchen islands, which are beautiful stretches of mitred stone with cantilevered ends. These islands are the hub of each apartment’s kitchen; a stylish focal point and place to socialise when preparing meals. Warm-toned, grey fumed oak cabinetry conceals high-end appliances from view, and complements the pietra grey marble splashbacks. Discerning cooks will appreciate the Miele ovens and induction cooktops, along with the Miele dishwashers. All apartments also feature Bosch fridge-freezers and Italian tapware in the main kitchen spaces (and in the sculleries featured in some apartments).
Large travertine tiles, double sinks and Italian tapware are standard in all bathrooms and lend a luxuriousness to the interiors. Overhead and handheld showers both feature, and some bathrooms also have baths. The master bedrooms are designed as calming retreats, easily able to accommodate a king-sized bed. Secondary bedrooms are multi-functional, able to be interpreted equally well as studies, home gyms or media rooms. Thick, lush carpet denotes comfort and relaxation, and walk-in wardrobes feature in the majority of the master bedrooms. As with the living spaces, furniture and fixtures can be custom-made by Bureaux for the bedrooms on request.
