Mr. Murphy brings 20 years of finance and business development expertise. Most recently Mr. Murphy focused on public sector interests with his run for the United States Congress for New York's 11th district and his work for the Office of the Public Advocate for the City of New York' Mayor Bill de Blasio.
In the private sector, Mr. Murphy was a vice president at The Irvine Company, based in Orange County California, the nation's most successful private real estate firm where he oversaw the business development of the company's marina and resort properties. Prior to joining the Irvine Company, he was a senior executive vice president at Summit Real Estate Partners, where he raised over $120 million for real estate ventures throughout the United States. Prior to joining Summit, he was the Executive Vice President of Milestone Media Partners where he raised $48 million to finance their partnership with Mandalay Entertainment.
Mr. Murphy has a proven track record of managing assets, sourcing capital, and managing day to day operations of large multi-faceted organizations. In addition he brings years of both public service and private sector experience to those he works with. As a successful businessman in finance and real estate, he understands the importance of accountability and responsible budget making. This approach helped him secure critical investments to grow companies and create jobs.
Although Mr. Murphy began his career at Merrill Lynch in their institutional fixed income trading and sales trading division, he worked for his family's business, FRANK MURPHY Contract Carrier, at one point one of the region's leading trucking companies, 2014 marks FMCC's 100th year. In addition he was a member of the staff of the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, while working for United States Congressman Dan Rostenkowski. Mr. Murphy received a Bachelor of Arts from the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and is a board member of Staten Island Legal Services, Camp Good Grief, and Jobs 4 Vets.Org.
