Local Expertise. Global Connections.
True to her down-to-earth roots, Anna continues to live, invest, and conduct business in her hometown of Hayward, California where her family still resides. Her predominant real estate market area is along the 880 & 580 corridors of the San Francisco East Bay, venturing beyond for long-time clients or referrals from those she knows and trusts or tapping into her nationwide or international network to assist. A colorful outlook allows her an incredibly diverse clientele from lawyers and engineers to artists, educators, community leaders and entrepreneurs. While she enjoys doing business with clients in any stage of life, she also enjoys selling challenging properties with tenants, code violations, IRS liens, probate, multi-party trust sales, out-of-area sellers and delicately handles divorce real estate sales. She experiences great joy navigating her first-time buyer clients toward home ownership and building wealth. After being part of and owning her own downtown Hayward real estate brokerage for 19 years, she joined Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty in 2021 due to its pristine reputation, international recognition, and high level of service at all price points. Though Anna has been laser focused on residential real estate over the decades, in 2023 she slightly recalibrated her business to revert back to including commercial real estate service.
Born “Anna Laveria May” at the U.S. military hospital in Taipei and known locally simply as 'Anna May', she has traveled internationally for her work and as a member of Rotary International. She's spent decades helping strengthen the interrelation of business, government, community, and charity. Anna's real estate professional journey started as a loan officer when interest rates were above 10% while she earned top producer status within a few months. Consistently recognized as a top award-winning professional, Anna was featured in the coveted East Bay Business Times “40 Under 40” shortly after being voted “Best Real Estate Agent” in the Daily Review reader’s choice poll. Regularly interviewed for industry magazines and local news outlets, Anna often serves as an irreverent top producer panelist or moderator at real estate conferences and leads training sessions for fellow agents. As a business owner from the age of 20, she has built out and owned restaurants as a franchisor (Rickshaw Restaurants Inc./Rickshaw Express), was elected and served as a history-making Hayward City Council Member, former Commissioner for the Housing Authority of the County of Alameda, and former school bond oversight committee member. Her leadership has extended to her presidency of a Women's Council of Realtors chapter, as Professional Standards Committee Member for the National Association of Realtors, Director/Vice President of her historic Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association after starting the National Night Out events in front of her house in 2005. As a long-time member of Rotary International she's a past Rotary Club President and was presented with a “Rotarian of the Year Award”.
Currently, Anna May serves as President & Founder of the Mt. Eden High School Alumni Association & Educational Foundation, a non-profit that supports the endeavors of high performing but bored high school students. In 2012, she started SantaCon Hayward and continues to organize and promote this annual venue-crawl on the 1st Saturday each December to raise money and awareness for the Hayward Animal Shelter. It is estimated that more than 400 sponsored pets went to forever homes from the money raised. Since 2018, she's been performing on stage as a stand-up comedian, donating all her comedy show earnings to charity in the first 5 years through August of 2023.
