This special monumental mansion from 1901 only reveals its secrets upon entering: the characteristic, generous, playful and spacious front suggests otherwise. But also quieter than you would expect from a house on a square in the center. It makes it an ideal house for habitation by a large family, care, live-in parent (s) or a combination of living and working. The living area is approximately 565m² and the basement is a whopping 204m².
P.C. Fick commissioned the construction of this building that was built in Neo-Renaissance style with details in Art Nouveau and Rococo style.
The Heuvel is a square that is closed on four sides and is, from an urban planning point of view, certainly one of the most beautiful squares in Brabant. At this characteristic Heuvelplein, in the center of Oosterhout, is an authentic Jugendstil mansion built in 1901 with fully enclosed garden and 2 garages which offers parking for 4 cars. There are, on this beautiful Heuvelplein, several historic town buildings, including the old 'Freedom House' and the former Town Hall. The current facades of the surrounding patrician houses date from the 19th and early 20th centuries, but most buildings have an older core.
De Heuvel is currently undergoing a general renovation of the square in front of it. With a beautiful stone paving, reduction of the number of parking spaces, a narrowing of the roadway and nicer/larger terraces, the Heuvel should become the most beautiful square in Brabant.
