The Lacoa Island has a surface area of 83.4 hectares. It is located in the quiet and touristy bay of Caulín, the only island located north of the Great Island of Chiloé, 71 km from Puerto Montt, crossing the Chacao channel and 24 km from the city of Ancud.
The north side is the highest on the island, bordering a cliff of 14 meters high, with a wide view towards the continental coast, Chacao Channel, Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes and the Pacific Ocean. Towards the south it decreases in height until it reaches sea level, where the sea enters occasionally, according to the tides, this entrance of 6 hectares forms a natural bay that can be transformed into a marina for smaller vessels.
In the east, south and west of the island we find beaches with gentle slopes and small stones suitable for recreational swimming.
Lacao Island counts with several types of vegetation, impregnated with usable waters for the irrigation of grasslands and water consumption. On the north side, the coast has petrified larch and high-altitude rock formations. It has a well registered in the General Water Directorate.
This unique property has great potential in a diversity of areas such as real estate development, tourism, conservation, aquaculture, forestry and agriculture. A few years ago it was used to raise 140 cattle heads for fattening.
