There’s a certain romanticism that comes from living in close quarters under the billowing sails of a seaworthy vessel, but even the most dedicated mariners know that sea legs get tired and smooth sailing is a lifelong practice. Setting out on adventures unknown pulls at the heart of any sailor, but every good seafarer needs a place to port. A coastal property is, therefore, just the ticket for the nautically-inclined—a berth from which to watch the sun rise and set over smooth or rough waters; a lookout over ships passing in the night; a high-tide hideaway from which to observe red skies at night.

Resort-style living and waterfront glory greet sailors as their ships come in to Nandana. The name means “Paradise” in Sanskrit, and this tropical beauty reflects that epithet through harmonious Asian-inspired decor and seamless indoor-outdoor living. The more than two-acre estate includes 288 feet of ocean access and 289 feet of canal frontage at the back, allowing yachts up to 115 feet to harbor here. The property encompasses six separate buildings, beautiful pavilion suites, and gardens splayed with tropical flora. The crown jewel here is a 112-foot-long infinity edge pool from which to watch sunsets and welcome in your crew.
Leigh Williamson, Gulf Sotheby’s International Realty
Gorgeous reflective surfaces throughout this incredible beach property will leave mariners the world over satisfied and motivated to take to the water again. Situated on one of the best beachfronts available in Dubai, full ocean views abound across 46,000 square-feet of incredible modern design. Entertain a regatta’s-worth of guests in the 200-person nightclub and 16-seat cinema. Take your ease in the calming waters of a beautiful indoor pool or outdoor infinity pool while you watch the palms sway overhead.
Frank E Newbold & Marilyn Clark, Sotheby’s International Realty – East Hampton Brokerage
East Hampton-adjacent and a stone’s throw from open ocean, this 25-acre Georgica Pond property offers water views from three sides of the 18,000-square-foot mansion. Every inch of the property is meticulously manicured, and each room of stately American design. The home was custom designed by Francis Fleetwood, Brian O’Keefe, and Marjorie Shushan, impressing readers the world over with a debut in Architectural Digest. Water enthusiasts will appreciate the pool, private dock, and wide cove views from nearly every room. Not to mention the wine cellar for ample sunset toasting.
Jay Dewing & Morgan Atkins, Sotheby’s International Realty – Palm Beach Brokerage
Find seaside perfection in this intracoastal estate. The light and airy reimagining of an American beach house is elevated across 22,975 square-feet of living space. Washes of bright white give the main rooms a deck-side feel, while white marble, natural wood, and elegant lighting remind you of the perks of being landlocked—that is, until you step onto 200 feet of ocean shoreline. Your private pier and beach cabana will be as much a draw as this home’s theater, sauna, and massage room. After all, airiness and ocean breezes are what this property was made for.
Michael Verburg, C.I.C. Immobilier Monte-Carlo Sotheby’s International Realty
Racing, sailing, and waterfront prestige come together in this sleek ocean-view apartment. If sailing isn’t your only preoccupation, knowing you’re just steps from the starting grid line of the Formula 1 Grand Prix is sure to delight. Beyond the track, Port Hercule happily houses yachts and smaller vessels while you relax in a beautifully-appointed home equipped with two master bedrooms, a private cinema, and lounge areas with ample ocean vistas.
Any of these fantastic properties have an anchors-away spirit, but, once claimed, may draw sailors in to dry land as often as the open seas.

You have mentioned beautiful places with amazing photos of each. Thanks for sharing this through this article. Among the places i like the palm jumeirah in Dubai, UAE. As I have lived there for around 3 years it was amazing experience, the sea view, the localities and everything. Also my uncle was living in florida, US which he was saying that he had a wonderful experience there also. Definitely these coastal properties on open water will be delightful watch and live here.
