When it comes to home amenities, a wish list can include anything from a swimming pool to a bowling alley, but recently, another home amenity has become a growing trend as a consideration in new construction and as an addition to older homes; an in-law suite. Also known as mother-in-law suites or accessory-dwelling units, these additions have been popping up in homes with increased frequency and variation—from a finished basement or an added room, to a detached building or apartment. Not only does this growing trend allow for aging parents to live comfortably with family, it’s also shown to increase the property value of the home, according to The Wall Street Journal. Explore four luxury homes for sale in the U.S., complete with a space perfect for parents and in-laws.

In-law suites? I feel as if that is every married couple’s dream situation. And these are some beautiful homes you have highlighted here. They may be a bit more luxurious than most can afford, but the idea is the same. A finished basement or add-on room would certainly do the trick as well.
