Our monthly series asks: What decor best suits each zodiac sign? Intuitive Pisces needs a home that flows—and lets in the light, writes Jill Krasny

Every sign of the zodiac has its own character, which can influence the type of home they gravitate toward. Hardworking Capricorns prize a well-crafted home with smart details, while free-spirited Sagittarians thrive in wide-open spaces that feel unique. Pisces are known for being in tune with their surroundings, so as their zodiac season (February 18-March 20) gets underway, it’s time to ask: how do you design the perfect home for a Pisces?
“Pisceans love water and anything that embodies the idea of fluidity,” says Anthony Perrotta, an astrologer and interior designer based in Providence, Rhode Island. So choosing a home near water is ideal, such as this 19th-century chȃteau on a small island in Ploumanac’h, a seaside village in the Brittany region of northern France. The romantic brick castle offers plenty of views of the Pink Granite Coast, and places to soak up some fresh air thanks to its outbuildings, heated swimming pool, expansive garden and easy access to beaches. Oversized windows drench the floors with daylight, while the banqueting room seems to float above the treetops and sandy, rose-colored beach.

Dark, overpowering designs repel Pisceans, who are “brighter, lighter signs,” according to Perrotta. “They need ample lighting and movement,” he says. Not for them: prewar closed floorplans, galley kitchens or builder-grade bathrooms. Casual open-concept designs like Scandinavian minimalism and Japandi are more to their taste, especially if they bring in natural light and organic materials.
A serene Victorian-style villa in the historic Italian town of Menaggio, on the shores of Lake Como, features spacious common areas with a clear line of sight. Soaring double-height ceilings, lakefront views and bay windows enhance the feeling of openness. The library, with its crimson-red bookshelves and tufted wraparound nook, beckons guests to unwind.

As the sign of sleep and dreams, Pisceans need a home that feels calming, with common areas that reflect interests and passions. “They excel at curating and bringing art to life in some way,” says Perrotta. They’re also wildly creative. A sweeping estate in an enclave of Irvine, California, has no shortage of restful luxuries—roomy bedrooms, a private spa and a hand-carved stone bathtub. Not to mention distinctive rustic elements like exposed wood beams, a reclaimed Tuscan fireplace and a cistern-style games room with a skylight.
This compassionate sign can also be reclusive, says Perrotta, so “something private like a tony enclave may appeal to them,” especially if there’s room to gather. For that, there’s a full-size bocce ball court, pizza oven and fire pit. And for cozier nights indoors, there’s a home theater.

Pisceans are drawn to water-inspired colors like deep blues and greens, purples and creams, says Perrotta, but “can run away with any palette”—as a water sign, they may be moved by the soft green-blue of seafoam or bluish purple of indigo. In fact, “They can really respond to anything that shows sea-life motifs or movement of water.” Their space is a canvas for their vision, so don’t be surprised if they spring for furniture that feels a bit offbeat or avant-garde. They want to be inspired as they move through their day. “And their home needs to be a reflection of their free spirit,” says Perrotta. They also love music, so a multiroom wireless speaker system is a wise investment.
Ultimately, this artsy sign wants a place to escape from the world. Pisceans “are incredibly private,” says Perrotta, and their home needs to allow them to uphold that value. Beyond that, it should bring their creative vision to life. “It needs to feel modular, inspiring and aesthetic,” he says. “Art imitates life, and their home is no different.”
