His designs are instantly recognizable, innovative, and timeless; each home a masterpiece embodying his vision and dedication. The Walker House in Carmel, California<\/h2>\n

Among the myriad homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, only one boasts an oceanfront location. Known as The Mrs. Clinton Walker House<\/a>, this residence is perched on a promontory in Carmel, California, offering sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The home echoes Wright’s Usonian style with its low-slung roof and expansive windows, yet its triangular shape evokes the prow of a ship. Constructed primarily of cedar and Carmel stone, the house also features painted steel, copper, concrete, and glass. The highlight of the home is a hexagonal living room that offers panoramic ocean views. The lot spans 14,000 square feet and includes a small beach. In 2016, the property was added to the National Register of Historic Places.<\/p>\n

Westhope in Tulsa, Oklahoma<\/h2>\n

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, Westhope<\/a>, constructed in 1929, is one of only three Wright-designed structures in Oklahoma and one of the few homes built on such a grand scale. The home is constructed with alternating piers of square glass windows and cement \u201ctextile\u201d blocks, and furniture, built-in cabinets, and drawers all crafted from similar wood, achieving the visual and spatial harmony that is a hallmark of Wright\u2019s aesthetic. Built for Wright\u2019s cousin, Tulsa Tribune publisher Richard Lloyd Jones, Westhope is bathed in natural light. Its walls seamlessly integrate concrete blocks with 5,200 glass panes arranged in pillar-like forms, creating a vertical pattern that floods the interior with light and maintains a visual connection to the ever-changing landscape outside. Designed with distinct public and private spaces, Westhope is perfect for entertaining and eminently livable. Spanning slightly more than 10,000 square feet, the residence includes 5 bedrooms, 4.1 baths, and a large reception area that flows into the dining room.<\/p>\n

Socrates Zaferiou House in Blauvelt, New York<\/h2>\n

The Socrates Zaferiou House<\/a>, dating back to circa 1960, stands as a rare gem among Frank Lloyd Wright-designed mid-century homes. Nestled on 2.5 private acres within the verdant expanse of Clausland Mountain Park\u2014a 532-acre, heavily wooded sanctuary teeming with diverse wildlife\u2014this residence holds the distinction of being the sole Wright creation on the West Bank of the Hudson River. This architecturally striking, 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath home is a unique variation of Wright’s Usonian style. The house boasts hallmark Wrightian elements: a flat roof, an L-shaped open floor plan, an oversized masonry fireplace, expansive windows, asymmetrical layouts, wood paneling, and Wright’s signature red flooring. Wright himself visited the site during the home\u2019s construction, but he passed away in 1959 before its completion.<\/p>\n
