These picturesque pavilions built primarily from local fieldstone seem almost to have sprung from the earth and feel as though they have always been here and perhaps always will.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebysrealty.com\/eng\/sales\/detail\/180-l-1188-tms4ds\/6015-grove-street-sonoma-ca-95476\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341937 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/4-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><em>Sonoma, California | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebysrealty.com\/eng\/associate\/180-a-1188-1220942\/caroline-sebastiani\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caroline Sebastiani<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sothebysrealty.com\/eng\/sales\/detail\/180-l-1188-tms4ds\/6015-grove-street-sonoma-ca-95476\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sotheby\u2019s International Realty \u2013 Sonoma Brokerage<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the main residence\u2014a 1980s home renovated as a sanctuary of sophistication with radiant-heated limestone floors, plaster walls, luxurious earthy textures, and views of the landscape\u2014had been completed, Owens began excavating a hillside for a potting shed to accommodate her gardening habit. That undertaking was the first of several additional buildings, many inspired by those she admired during her travels in the French and Italian countryside.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/2-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341935 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/2-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a>Nearly every room of the main residence\u2014from a circular living room with a vaulted ceiling to the well-equipped French country\u2013style cook\u2019s kitchen to the lavish bedrooms and baths\u2014opens to the outdoors, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor flow. Adjacent to the main home, the guesthouse is a restful retreat where visitors can relax and revel in the idyllic scenery. At every turn, windows allow moss-covered surfaces and the burls, branches, and leaves of trees to become captivating works of natural art.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/10.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341943 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/10-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a>Through Owens\u2019s painstaking choices, elements from distant lands and days gone by are given new life: \u201cIt&#8217;s lovely to be able to transform old things,\u201d she says. Her penchant for reclamation is conscientious but also creative and clever. A vintage garden trowel serves as the door knocker for the potting shed. Tables are crafted from slabs of stone salvaged from the tops of old wells. \u201cWhen they till the soil for vineyards nearby, they take out the rocks, and I collect and use them,\u201d she says, \u201cWhen an oak falls on my property, I turn it into stools and ottomans.\u201d This distinctive, organic approach to gathering and repurposing materials results in a property that captivates with its bold scale and rustic elegance while also remaining resolutely in harmony with its setting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/6-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341939 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/6-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a>The lounging pavilion is an inviting three-walled space that encourages lingering with its 100-year-old hand-hewn beams, extensive banquette formed from hefty cinder blocks and concrete, vast &#8220;jigsaw-puzzle-style&#8221; reclaimed-wood table, and chandeliers made from beehives. Another of the pavilions is an outdoor kitchen, a rustic space featuring an oak slab counter, a French stone bowl repurposed as a sink, and a chandelier embellished with grapevines, ivy, and moss. The stacked stone walls of the elegant dining pavilion are draped in ivy; inside, their ruggedness is matched by a lengthy table composed of salvaged wood beams and given a refined touch by shimmering chandeliers. Just outside, an antique stone sink from France has been transformed into a fountain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/8-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-341941 size-large aligncenter\" src=\"\/\/static-sir-corp-blog-production.gtsstatic.net\/blog-api\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/8-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a>Water channels enjoy new life as a scenic stream and flowing fountain that runs through a portion of the 7.18-acre property. Interspersed with hand-laid stone terraces, the grounds are strewn with shrub oaks, century-old olive trees, fragrant lavender, and chartreuse-bloomed limelight hydrangeas.
