Ever wonder why some homes grab your interest while others leave you unmoved? Your star sign may have something to do with it. Whereas<\/span> Virgo prizes a crisp, clean aesthetic<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>risk-taking <\/span>Leo goes for drama<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> soft-hearted Cancer likes their home<\/span><\/a> to feel like a cocoon. Libras value appearances, so as their zodiac season (September 23 to October 22) gets underway, it\u2019s time to ask: How do you design the perfect home for a Libra?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the sign of beauty, Libra \u201ccares about harmony,\u201d says <\/span>Anthony Perrotta<\/span><\/a>, an astrologer and interior designer based in Providence, Rhode Island. \u201c<\/span>Symmetry, proportion and scale\u2014all design principles in their own right\u2014give Libra just what they need.\u201d A <\/span>light-filled co-op<\/span><\/a> in Pacific Heights, a wealthy neighborhood in San Francisco, fits the description. From the charming Beaux Arts facade to the picture windows and contemporary wainscoting, local architect Conrad Meussdorffer\u2019s<\/span> turn-of-the-century design still feels relevant today. The extra-large sitting and formal rooms, set off by modern French doors, create a good flow.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Libras are drawn to lightness, says <\/span>Perrotta<\/span>, so it\u2019s best to avoid \u201cclunky, oversized\u201d objects. A home that is closed-off or dark is also a no-go. Open floor plans with luxurious touches and sculptural pieces are more for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An <\/span>airy mews house<\/span><\/a> in central London feels stylish but not overdone. Renovated by local award-winning firm Threefold Architects, who kept its original facade, the home features an ultrasleek kitchen, head-turning staircase and frameless skylights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis house would be the perfect blend of modern and vintage,\u201d says Perrotta, \u201cspeaking well to Libra\u2019s ability to balance different styles.\u201d Luxe fittings and textures, including a pair of black leather replicas of German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe\u2019s Barcelona chair, warm up the rooms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Libra loves a dash of glamour and a <\/span>two-storied co-op<\/span><\/a> on Manhattan\u2019s Riverside Drive has it in spades, from period details like a stained-glass ceiling to the view of Riverside Park from the primary suite. \u201cAgain, the charm of blending the old with new is perfect for them,\u201d says Perrotta,\u00a0 \u201cas is being amid the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Libras aren\u2019t the type to overdo it with color, says Perrotta, though they do have a penchant for lavenders, pinks and greens. They prefer subtle drama\u2014\u201cThink: boucle, suede, light marbles, woods and linen,\u201d he says\u2014and scent is important, as \u201cthey care about the holistic experience.\u201d Musks, thyme and light fruit notes are all good options. A <\/span>sun-drenched refuge<\/span><\/a> in Ibiza has views in abundance, and is decorated with nature-inspired colors, textures and materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, Libra wants a space they can share with their loved ones, says Perrotta. It should reflect their quest for beauty and idea of what beauty is, not unlike a magazine or even a museum. \u201cThey put a lot of care into everything they choose,\u201d he says. \u201cThe space should be thoughtful, easy and effortless.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
