The Stremmel Gallery is slated to display Phyllis Shaffer: Beneath One Sky from mid October through November 9. The showing marks the fifth solo exhibition of the South Tahoe artist’s work.

Beneath One Sky captures Shaffer’s perspective of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe. Shaffer’s artistic method is to paint directly from the natural environment, with paint being the tool by which she furthers the process of interpretation that reveals the inner spirit of her subject. Much of Shaffer’s art features spatial extremes that relate to ‘world and self’, the objective being to reveal a nature that relates to bodily and psychological states of being.

An exhibition of the artist’s work will follow in February 2014 at the Nevada Museum of Art.
