{"id":391,"date":"2020-05-22T03:52:14","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T07:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sierrasothebysrealty.blog\/2020\/05\/22\/phasing-boats-back-onto-our-lakes\/"},"modified":"2020-05-22T03:52:14","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T07:52:14","slug":"phasing-boats-back-onto-our-lakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sothebysrealty.com\/sierrasir\/blog\/2020\/05\/22\/phasing-boats-back-onto-our-lakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Phasing Boats Back Onto Lake Tahoe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Most public, and some private, launch facilities at Tahoe announced they will open this week with COVID-19 precautionary plans in place to protect the health and safety of staff and boaters.<\/p>\n<p>The phased approach to opening launch sites around Lake Tahoe began with the opening of Tahoe City&#8217;s Lake Forest public ramp to vessels with an intact Lake Tahoe inspection seal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Currently, vessels with Tahoe Only stickers will be allowed to launch. According to TRPA officials, Tahoe-In-and-Out vessels will be considered to launch in future phases after health orders are further relaxed.<\/p>\n<p>The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has paused its annual distribution of Lake Tahoe aquatic invasive species boat decals to give time for numerous private marinas, public boat ramp managers, and state and local agencies to agree on a plan to open the lake in phases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In the initial phase, only boats that have a Lake Tahoe aquatic invasive species seal from their last haul out can launch. All non-motorized should always arrive Clean.Drain.Dry before launching here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8559\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sierrasothebysrealty.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Summer-Photo-CD_Page_077-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"STND-STND BodyText\"><strong>DONNER LAKE AND TRUCKEE WATER BODIES<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Truckee Town Council adopted an amendment to its municipal code regarding aquatic invasive species at its meeting on May 12, which will require mandatory self-inspections by boaters prior to launching into any Truckee water body, including Donner Lake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Prior to vessels, without a current Lake Tahoe inspection sticker, being launched into Donner Lake for the first time in a season, a self-inspection form must be submitted to the town in order to obtain an inspection sticker. Current inspection forms shall also be kept in the watercraft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Watercraft self-inspections are mandatory for all motorized and\/or trailered watercraft launching on Donner Lake. Inspections are to help prevent the introduction of aquatic invasive species into Donner Lake. Non-motorized watercraft may also be subject to an inspection prior to entering Donner Lake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">There is no fee for a Donner Lake 2020 sticker. Self-inspection forms can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.townoftruckee.com\/government\/police\/watercraft-inspection-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.townoftruckee.com\/government\/police\/watercraft-inspection-program<\/a><i class=\"fas fa-external-link-alt\"><\/i>\u00a0or at the Donner Lake Public Boat Launch.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"STND-STND BodyText Subhead\"><strong>INSPECTIONS<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Boats that require inspections to launch on Lake Tahoe will have to wait for inspection stations around the lake to open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Inspection stations will remain closed until further notice as directed by state health orders and travel restrictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Part of Truckee moving to self inspections involves the town no longer funding roughly half the cost to run the Truckee Inspection Station, which is located off Highway 267 and Truckee Airport Road.
