Pirates’ Beach and Cove, one of Galveston’s early master planned communities, was created by George Mitchell and the Woodlands Corporation in the 1960s. Located eight miles west of 61st Street, the communities combine the scenic beauty of coastal living with the advantages of a major metropolitan area.

Pirates’ Beach, Pirates’ Beach West and Pirates’ Landing are adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico while Pirates’ Cove, Lafitte’s Cove and The Enclave face Galveston Bay. Amenities include a member-only country club and golf course. Residents can take advantage of endless recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, kayaking, birding, golfing, surfing, cycling or just strolling along the beach. Lafitte’s Cove is home to a 35-acre nature preserve and public park that is a stop-over for hundreds of species of birds that migrate across the
Gulf of Mexico.

Although impacted by Hurricane Ike in 2008, these communities have and continue to thrive. Home prices in Pirates Beach, Pirates’ Beach West, Pirates Cove and Lafitte’s Cove range from the $200,000s to more than $2 million.
