Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty is accepting donations for this year’s Mickey’s Fund toy drive – a program to serve the in-and outpatient families at Children’s Hospital Colorado who are struggling. Mickey’s Fund, a program established by longtime local Moose Barrows to honor the memory of his son, has evolved into an event that the hospital calls Snow Pile.

New, unwrapped toys and monetary donations are currently being collected at the Steamboat Sotheby’s Realty main office at 610 Marketplace Plaza and at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club office at Howelsen Hill. Toys must be dropped off no later than Friday, December 19th and will be delivered to Children’s Hospital Colorado for the Snow Pile event taking place December 20th-23rd.

The program serves over 1,000 children each year, ranging in age from infant to adolescent. Over the multi-day event, the children and their families enter a room overflowing with toys – everything from bikes to iPads, stuffed animals to trucks.

View the wish list here and keep in mind:

• Due to infection control guidelines, we can only accept items that are brand new and manufactured
• Items need to be in their original packaging
• We cannot accept toy guns or toys that depict violence (Nerf guns, figurines with guns/swords, military toys, etc.)
• We cannot accept the following items: food products, potted plants, latex balloons
• Infant/toddlers and adolescents are the age groups in greatest need
• We are not able to accept any infant swings or bouncers
• Please remember that we can only accept NEW toys and stuffed animals

It is a simple way to make a difference in the lives of children who are spending the holidays in the hospital, and a way to bring their families some holiday joy.
